Scott County Emergency Management coordinates and conducts training of all off-site emergency responders should there ever be an incident at one of the plants.

Risk County Exelon Corp Cordova, Il (potential direct impact on Scott County residents)

Host County Duane Arnold Energy Center Palo, Ia (provide radiological monitoring decontamination and temporary shelter support for identified population in Linn County).


General Facts - Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station

• 20 miles northeast of Quad Cities
• Property size: 784 acres
• Two (2) boiling water reactors (BWR)
• Heat output: 8,813,600,000 BTU/HR
• majority owned and operated by Exelon Corp
• 25% of station owned by MidAmerican


Those who live or work within ten miles of the Quad Cities Nuclear Generating Station, are within the area known as the Emergency Planning Zone. Each year residents and businesses receive a brochure from Exelon which provides specific information concerning the plant and actions to take should an incident occur.
